wedding uniqueness #5 – custom guest book – dayton wedding photographer

Wedding uniqueness #5 is here! today i decided to feature one of our products that always adds a personal unique touch to your wedding day.  At nixon photography, we offer a custom designed guest book that features your engagement pictures.  this is such a unique item!  Having a guest book with your beautiful, relaxed portraits in them will give you a reason to look through your guest book years down the road. With a plain guest book that people just sign, it will probably end up in a box labelled WEDDING THINGS and you’ll not look at it ever again. By having a custom engagement album guest book it not only gives you a reason to keep it out on a shelf for display next to your wedding album but it’s also a nice collection of your engagement portraits! I always photograph a few pictures of our guests books as guests are coming in to the ceremony and people just rave over how neat it is as they are signing their name! It gives your guests something visually interesting to see before the ceremony.

We always ask how many guests you’ll be having (approximately) and I make sure the book isn’t too big or too small for your wedding. That way no matter what you have a filled book with signatures from all of the guests at your wedding.  SO unique!:)

How neat, right?! Hope you enjoyed this Wedding Uniqueness! Here are a few more guest books from other weddings we’ve done! Have a great Tuesday evening!

wedding uniqueness #4 – love letter unity ceremony – dayton wedding photographer

everyone ready for wedding uniqueness #4? it’s a good one!:)looking back on lindsey & tj’s wedding they really had a couple of uniqueness-es that stood out in my mind so you may see their wedding featured again on later wedding uniqueness-es. for today’s wedding uniqueness i decided to highlight a portion of the ceremony that you can really get creative with.  there are SO many ideas you can do for your unity portion of the ceremony. lindsey and tj had a love letter unity ceremony. all you need is a nice wooden box, hammer, a couple nails, a good bottle of wine, and your love letters. here is a picture of what that looks like so you can have a visual before I explain how it works!

the really unique part about this ceremony is that it gives you something to look forward to 25, 30, or 50 years down the road when you’ve hit a milestone in your marriage and you get to open this box, read the letters, share a glass of wine, and take a few minutes to remember one of the happiest days of your lives, the beginning of your life as a married couple. being able to bring back those moments on your wedding day through love letters you wrote just days or hours before saying i do – i think it is one of the sweetest things of all time!

here is a series of images from their love letter unity ceremony, at the bottom I will be sharing a sample of what you could have the officiate say to explain to your guests the uniqueness of this part of the ceremony. You can always find more sayings through the internet or just by writing your own. when i got married i wrote my own ceremony, i had guidelines, but i tweaked parts and pulled portions of other ceremonies to create one that really reflected joe and i.  if you don’t want to take the time to write your whole ceremony you could always write what this box and these letters mean to you and share that with your guests in your own way!:)

Does that give you chills? I love everything about it!  Here are a couple of examples of what you could have your officiate say for the love letter unity ceremony:

EXAMPLE 1:

“I’d like to draw your attention to the box in front of __(Lindsey)____and _____(TJ)___. (insert your own names) They have written love letters to each other expressing their feelings as they begin their marriage.  We will include these letters in the box along with a bottle of wine. Together they will seal this box, and on the happy occasion of each anniversary, they will open the box, read the letters, drink wine, and add new love letters to the box each year.  As time passes, they will have a record of the yearly reflection of their relationship and a living document of the growth and depth of their ever evolving relationship.”

EXAMPLE 2:

“This box contains a bottle of wine, two glasses, and a love letter from each to the other. The letters describe the good qualities they find in one another, the reasons they fell in love, and their reasons for choosing to marry.  The letters are sealed and have not been seen by anyone but the writer – a romantic time capsule to be opened on your 5th (or ‘x’ number) wedding Anniversary.”

Hope that gives you a unique idea for your wedding ceremony! You can also include photos or any special items that you might want to look back on in the box!:)Hope you are enjoying the nixon wedding uniqueness-es! OH! real quick, how cute is this sweet heart table? Check back for later wedding uniqueness-es to see more about their wedding reception at Polen Farms in Kettering, Ohio.
